Dominion
Well, still not done with math, but Drakon gave me the poke to do Rufus and I had this like ZOMG idea and I went with it. Don't hurt me.
I am three steps away from what I was made for.
All the phone calls, all the “favors”.... I’ve been shuffling people around for a couple of years now. Some will be harder to lose, and others... all I need to push are the right buttons. Everyone that shuffles through a public education system has records. Once you leave a paper trail... you’re finished. I have you. You are mine.
The teachers are easiest. Everyone employed here has some sordid past; gambling, prostitution, manslaughter. A regular grab bag of ill reputes. One phone call and they are out of their cushy teaching position... and in a rather uncomfortable one involving a guard named “Big Moe”.
The students are harder, oddly enough. They are at an age to defy authority... with some more bold than others. I’ve had to suspend Highwind three times this year for smoking alone. He’ll be in juvenile court before long and out of my hair soon enough. Valentine used to worry me, but once the nurse got a hold of him, he was far easier to deal with. Tseng has assured me that his little nerd friends will not be a problem...
Oh, what am I doing, you ask?
It’s simple. I am trying to make this school... into the cradle of my empire. I have plans for the world... and each year they come closer to fruition. Those that have proven fealty will be the nobles... the others will be the ground I step on. With great power comes... more power. Didn’t you learn that in school?
But why a school? That is also simple.
Young people, especially at this awkward age are perfect for an army. Impressionable minds and able bodies... why else would their be organized sports if not to train them? And with the extra supplements that Dr. Hojo has been perfecting, the average capacity of the student body towards physical feats has tripled. They don’t notice because the supplement only supplements what is there... thus the more muscle bound students will still be stronger.
There are a few flukes. Like that Kisaragi girl, who is apparently trained through Wutain means, thus making her quite muscular... but in a slim deceiving way. She is quite hard to reign in. Hopefully Tseng will provide me some insight with which to control her.
Ah.... Tseng. Such a simple boy, really. I’ve always likes the Wutains best, so demure and hardworking. And this one was perhaps easier than any others to win over, considering how he hungers for power. Not unlike me, once upon a time. Perhaps that’s why I’m more fond of him than the others... besides being so attractive. I consider him a source of pride when I speak with my investors.
Some day, I think he will be my bodyguard. Each confrontation with Sephiroth, our naturally occurring strength specimen, is hardening him. I can see it when he walks in. He has been getting extra supplements in his diet, and after the past year, he should be comparable to Strife in raw muscle power. Wutains always seem to hide their strength under such slim petite bodies. It’s beautiful, really.
Oh, why would I want this?
Let me ask you a question. Why not? The world is decaying and I’m giving these children the best possible chance. Certainly, some will fall through in the process, but the resulting group will be that much stronger.
Why should I lead this?
Simpleton. If you can’t figure that out for yourself... then you’re simply not worth having around are you? Maybe Dr. Hojo can find a use for you... he and his wife are quite brilliant, you know.
No? Well, I won’t give you a second chance to reconsider. My dominion over man is coming... are you ready for it?

Dashing in, Cendri... but what an interesting concept. Rufus is generally underappreciated, but here... here he is marvelous and frightening. Scariest of all is that it all works terribly well.
(I got a kick out of Yuffie's unruly stance in particular - it seems like most everyone gives her a wide berth!)

I LOVE Rufus! I'm so glad I asked you to write him. He's so smooth, and evil and... I dunno. I wanted to be like "EVIL MAN OFF TSENG!" But I get the feeling that he is the only person that really expects anything from Tseng.
That makes me sad for Tseng.

I like your idea on Rufus having a hold over all the teachers, and i like this little backstory we're creating about how the students are all at the mercy of Hojo and Lucy...
It really is the High School of D00M, isn't it?

LOVE. Complete adoration. Rufus is PERFECT.
I also really like that, in the end, he's actually talking to US. It does make one curious, though, as to what's going to happen once his students find out what's been happening to them. It's like one huge labratory, that school. Even shadier than most people think.
. . . This also explains why Reno seems to get in the most fights with Seph. He could probably wipe the floor with everyone else, considering what Hojo's done. Shwee.
This is getting really intense, Cendri. I really can't wait to see where it all goes. ^_^
