An Introduction to Midgar High
I present the beginning of our madness. I put it in this style as more of an informative thing. Please don't use the same tone for the actual "fic" parts.
To some, high school is a grand time, perhaps their last chance of freedom without responsibility. To others, it is an endless merciless torture, exacted by a cruel and uncaring universe. Whatever a person’s view on the matter, most would agree that this period of time in a person’s development has a serious effect on how a person behaves as an adult.
These children are no exception.
To better illustrate the trials and tribulations of adolescence, we have used characters that you may be quite familiar with. Only, you might be inclined to notice that there are some differences from what you remember. Certain liberties with age, setting, and diversity have been taken into account for a measure of realism. But for the most part, the personalities should resemble younger selves that were raised in differing situations.
Now, let us begin with the setting. Picture a large thriving city. A metropolis. Within it, you will find marketplaces and skyscrapers and neighborhoods. People of all classes and varieties live within it. This is our Midgar. Now imagine within, a school, one large enough to handle an urban volume of students. The halls are lines with lockers, and subdivisions according to subject organize its inner structure. One cafeteria, one gymnasium, offices for administrative duties, and several labs are features that maintain its status as that of a typical American high school.
As for the classes, they are run in a fashion known as “block” scheduling. That is, four main classes per day, switching between two sets every other day. Certain students take certain classes dependent on which colleges they want to go to, and most of the basic subjects are covered. There are also extra-curricular activities, most notably football, to which this school boasts a perfect season.
Welcome to Midgar High. The biggest public school in the city, and the one that most parents seek to live near in order for their students to attend. Their staff is top notch, their athletics are astounding. At the moment, they are gearing up for the homecoming game, which has not been lost since the school’s founding.
And now let us meet some of the characters as they begin their day. Physical Education, early in the morning under the direction of Coach Palmer. Some of the events may seem a little crazy… but keep in mind, at Midgar High, there are far more things than can be seen from the outside…
